About Us

We are an investment and advisory company operating in London and the Midlands. We are raising a seed stage venture capital fund and also provide consultancy and advisory services in line with our areas of expertise.

Venture capital is where an equity stake in a business is taken in return for a capital injection. It is best known from the Silicon Valley start-up ecosystem with companies such as Facebook and Google receiving venture capital funding to enable them to grow rapidly. Venture capital is not appropriate for all companies for two main reasons. First of all a venture capital investor will expect a return so it is implicit that the company will be sold or floated within a few years. Secondly, the venture capitalist has a responsibility to the fund investors to make a significant return and not all companies will be able to support the growth required to represent the required increase in value.

You can read about our team below but collectively our partners have served on the board of an FTSE 100 company as well as numerous private companies, founded, built up and exited over 20 separate businesses, taken two companies public, make over 300 websites and mobile apps, launched a successful series of children’s books, invented Sky’s “Red Button”, earned a doctorate in medicine with quantum physics and served in the Royal Marines. Our advisors have served on the boards of Saatchi & Saatchi and Benchmark Capital (now Balderton Capital) and been a KPMG partner. So, all together we are a pretty experienced bunch!

We have all been in and around technology companies for most of our working lives and our collective passion for the commercialisation of tech products is the number one factor that has driven us to work in venture capital. Consequently we will be looking to make investments in early stage technology companies across a range of sectors and markets within the broad umbrella of technology.

We are open to companies based anywhere but we have two geographical bases; London and Birmingham, so we will favour companies near to these locations.

London has become somewhat of a hub for technology start-ups with a great deal of attention on Shoreditch and the area around Old Street. The community in this and other areas of London can only help the start-up eco-system through collaboration and an ease of networking.

Our Midlands focus makes us quite rare – there are only three other early stage VC’s in the whole region. This gives us a huge advantage in terms of access to potential portfolio companies, especially through Midlands Universities. We also act as an advisor on the Science Capital networking series.

“There really is a need for more investment funding to be made available in the West Midlands, particularly in relation to seed and early stage investment. The development of really exciting high growth opportunities is certainly hampered at present due to the lack of resources available.”
